Sumo son in Botswana breaks Brazilian record

The Hurvitz Group in Brazil astounded the industry with a record price of 8388 pula for a crossbred steer by Tamhorn Sumo. The animal was a Belgian Blue cross Simbra type cow and tipped the scales at 788kg liveweight with a slaughtered out weight at an impressive 501.1kg CDM - giving a 63% killing out percentage. The 24 month old bull had a feedlot performance of 1.75kg per day.

"We knew Tamhorn Sumo was a good one, but the amazing CDM is what swung it. Belgian Blues slaughter at 11% more than the average animal and coupled with the meat to bone ratio, gives an unbeatable comination" explained Clive Marshall, General Manager who bought the semen from Phil Halhead after visiting the Blue's at the Royal Show in the UK.
