EMPIRE D'OCHAIN DAUGHTER IS CHAMPION AT AGRI EXPO
Judge Benoir Cassart choses his Overall Champion
The quality of cattle on show at the second Agri Expo at Carlilse was fantastic said judge Benoir Cassart who travelled from Belgium. His Overall Champion was Croftends Emma, a nine month old heifer by Empire D'Ochain - one he described as 'exceptional for her age.'
"She is very long, tall and has excellent mobility. She has a fine bone and has grown well - I was very impressed at how well she had grown - one to watch in the future."
The successful day for the Empire D'Ochain and the Bellas family began when they were second in class 1 with Croftends Eddie a January 09 bull that went on to take Reserve Male Champion. In class 2 it was their April 09 bull Croftends Earl that took first place in his class. Croftends Emma won her heifer class and went on to take the Overall Championship.
Croftends Emma is out of Croftends Belle - a daughter of Dafydd D'Ochain - that makes Emma the first of the Dafydd x Empire breeding to win a championship - good signs for this calf and for breeders looking for a sire for their Dafydd D'Ochain progeny.

British Blue Society President President Ted Haste, travelled from Devon to see the event and he was very impressed with the quality of cattle at the show. He made particular comment on the quality of the Border British Blue stand saying "There are a lot of lessons other clubs can learn by visiting this event and the Border Blues stand. The stock are top quality and I am amazed at what an outstanding job the club has done - it's great for the breed."
Ted Haste judged the young handlers class and enjoyed talking to the handlers on parade. The said "It was a shame the entry level was not higher, but those that entered will all make very good stockmen in the future." The handler class was won by Josh Bellas making it another celebration for the Bellas family.
